Now you can download AudioBooks from the Mohawk Valley Library System's website at www.mvls.info! When you arrive at the website, scroll down slightly until you see a gray and red icon on the right-hand side that reads "One Click Digital". Clicking on that icon will bring you to the MVLS Audiobook Downloads One Click Digital site. From that site you can check participating libraries. Select Frothingham Free Library (Fonda) from that list to proceed to setting up an account, or you may click on the "Getting Started Guide". The first time you use OneClick Digital, you will need to create a user account and install the OneClick Digital Media Manager software to your computer. Now you are on your way!

eBooks have arrived for free loan from your library

eBooks can now be found from the Mohawk Valley Library System website http://www.mvls.info/. When you arrive at this website, scroll down until you see an blue and gray icon on the right side of your screen that reads "Download ebooks Overdrive". Clicking on that icon will take you into the "eContent Collection" that you may browse. That portion of the website also contains "Help" and "Getting Started" menus, as well as "Guided Tours" and the list of compatible devices. You'll have all the information you'll need to be on your way!

Holiday Closing

The Frothingham Free Library will be closed on Saturday December 24th for Christmas. This is the only change to our normal hours for the holidays.

E-Reader

The Frothingham Free Library now has a Nook e-reader loaded with best selling titles available for loan. Library patrons can borrow a reader for a two week period and read one or more books on it. The Mohawk Valley Library System (MVLS) provided the e-readers in member libraries to enable library staff and patrons to learn about and use this increasingly popular technology. MVLS is a cooperative library system supporting libraries in Fulton, Montgomery, Schenectady and Schoharie counties. The program is supported by Federal Library Services and Technology Act funds, awarded to the New York State Library by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Mohawk Valley Library System. Winter Readathon for Ages 1-100

Thank you to everyone who made the Frothingham Free Library's 3rd annual Taste of Chocolate a success. Summer Reading Program

Congratulations to the 176 children who participated in the summer reading program and set a new library record by reading 2580 books. The library would like to thank the following volunteers for presenting programs - Renee Carr from the Mental Health Association, Jose Colon, Lou Hildebrandt Jr., GE Volunteer Scientist, Joe Constantine, Jacki Sweeney, Tom Staudle, Teresa Mormile, Andy Rackowski, Rachel Kelch, Judy Emmon & Price Chopper, Craig Clark from Cooperative Extension, Fonda Reformed Church Youth Group, Vincenza & Antoinette from Mike's Pizza. We would also like to thank our exceptional summer library volunteers and friends who donated prizes.

2010 Community Report

The Frothingham Free Library was a bustling hub in our community during 2010. We offered twenty nine adult programs including book discussions, a memoir writing workshop, and a Save Energy, Save Dollars workshop. During the summer reading program we offered thiry one programs with 922 people in attendance. 184 children and young adults participated in the summer reading program. They read a record number of 2141 books. We continue to have a weekly story hour every Tuesday morning. During the year, we also had special Key Club story hours, a music program with Gary Van Slyke, Halloween entertainment, a children's Christmas party, a magic show and visits from our local nursery school. Our artist of the month provides the community with a mini art gallery.

We participated in the FONDA Community Pride Day in August. Each person who stopped by our booth received information about the library and was given a gently used book.

Our second annual Taste of Chocolate fundraiser was held in October. Everyone enjoyed the music and the great chocolate treats.

The board and staff continue to make improvements to the library. If you drove by on Memorial weekend you probably saw us painting the trim on the front of the library.

We would like to thank everyone who generously supports the library. We appreciate your help in making the library a vital place in our community!

Love to read but you can't get to the library because of a temporary or permanent disability. Frothingham has a free outreach program which provides book delivery service to your home, or if you prefer you may have a friend or relative pick up your ready-to-go books at the library. It only takes a phone call to enroll and you can again experience the joy of reading. Call 853-3016. We'll answer all your questions.
